Calculation summary
Supported scope: General rule only: 8 hours per day, 40 per week and double time after 12 hours in a day. Excludes averaging agreements, variances, statutory holidays, rest-period premiums and special industries.
How this calculator works
The engine first separates each day into regular hours, time-and-a-half hours over 8 through 12, and double-time hours over 12. It then counts only the first 8 hours in each day toward the 40-hour weekly threshold, so the same hour is not counted twice.
What this version does not decide
- Averaging agreements and variances
- Statutory-holiday and weekly-rest premiums
- Managers, excluded occupations and industry-specific rules
- Collective-agreement or contractual rights that are more favourable
Where any exclusion applies, use the official source or obtain qualified advice before relying on an estimate.
