Editorial Policy
How WageWise Canada plans, writes, reviews and maintains calculator explanations and employment-standards content.
Mission and scope
WageWise Canada provides plain-language educational information and calculation tools for Canadian pay and employment-standards questions. Our content is intended to help readers understand inputs, formulas, assumptions and official sources. It is not legal, payroll, tax or accounting advice.
Editorial standards
- Start with a clearly defined reader question and jurisdiction.
- Prefer current primary government and legislative sources.
- Separate general rules from exceptions, special industries and contractual terms.
- Use plain language without removing legally important qualifications.
- Show effective dates, review dates and material corrections.
- Avoid unsupported accuracy claims, invented reviewer credentials and promotional influence.
Use of automated tools
Automated tools may assist drafting, testing or quality assurance. An editor remains responsible for the published result. Legal formulas and rate changes are not published solely from automated output.
Calculator content
Every employment-standards calculator must have a documented formula specification, versioned rule data, eligibility and limitation notes, official sources, worked examples and test fixtures before publication. A visual or copy update must not silently change a calculation formula.
Editorial independence
Advertising, affiliate or commercial relationships do not determine calculator results, legal interpretations, ratings or editorial conclusions. Paid placements are labelled and kept visually separate from WageWise navigation and calculator controls.
Review limitations
Unless a page explicitly names a qualified reviewer and describes the completed review, readers should not assume that a lawyer, payroll professional or employment-standards specialist has independently reviewed it. We link to official sources so users can confirm rules that apply to their circumstances.
